Each phone carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc.) charges a fee per message sent out of any text messaging platform. For transparency, we list the exact cost associated with carrier fees for each of our pricing packages, so you know exactly what portion of your bill covers those costs.
Like most SMS platforms, Postscript allows 160 characters per SMS message without emojis, and 70 characters per SMS message with emojis. SMS messages exceeding those character counts are split into multiple messages, each of which is charged at the per-SMS rate.
However, not all platforms handle MMS pricing the same. Postscript allows up to 1,600 characters per MMS message with or without emojis. For more details on using MMS in Postscript, check out this Help Center article.
While we offer the option to get on a contract, we do not require it. If you’d rather not sign a contract, simply select your package, install the app, and we will bill you on a monthly basis accordingly. SMS isn’t a one-way communication channel. If you’re optimizing your program, you’ll be receiving responses from subscribers regularly. While some providers charge for incoming messages (beyond the carrier fees), Postscript does not.
Postscript does not charge merchants for any messages that fail to deliver.
We do have a software development kit merchants can add to their own shop’s code. Our SDK code includes desktop and mobile popups, our opt-in checkbox for checkout, and TCPA-compliant language.

Yes, you have the option of a dedicated toll-free number at no extra cost, or the option to lease a dedicated 5-digit short code. Brands that want to use a dedicated short code must undergo a compliance audit as part of the application process. During the audit, both our team and our aggregator will review your SMS opt-in sources (e.g., popups, keywords, landing pages, etc.) to ensure they meet TCPA guidelines.
